I was only 14 when it happened. I was at a speech meet with my school. I was listening to someone finish their speech when I felt something in me twist. All of the sudden, a wave of nausea rolled over me and I put my head on the desk.
I heard clapping and then my name being called. I took a deep breath and stood up. It went away and I felt fine. I smiled and walked to the front of the room to give my speech.
I was in the middle of my presentation and about to do a snap when it came back. I stopped talking and just looked at the people in the room. It hurt, really, bad. I heard people whisper, oh no. Thinking I had forgotten my line and I did. It hurt so much and I???
"Help," I collapsed to the floor.
I could hear voices around me and I wanted to say something to them. I opened my mouth but a wave of pain rolled over me and I whimpered and curled into a ball. I squeezed my eyes tight and tried to breath.
I felt hands picking me up and I let them. They picked me up by my arms and then legs and put me down on something. I was sitting up for a minute though and I opened my eyes and saw adults in??? odd clothes. I also started to cough. I couldn't help it and I couldn't really breath so it hurt and went on forever. During a small pause I looked up and saw one of my team mates in the doorway watching me. I thought I saw concern or worry in his eyes but I started coughing again.
Eventually I??? blacked out or something because the next thing I knew, I was waking up. But I don't think I was at a hospital. There was a tree growing through the floor. And the floor, looked like miracle grow. Black, rich dirt, with a tree on the side.
I sat up and moved my legs off the side of the bed. I stood up and realized a few things. One: I didn't hurt, at all. I could breath and not much hurt. Two: I am still wearing my clothes from the speech meet. Three: I remember someone's hand.
'Someones hand?' I think. 'Why a hand? And who's?' I try to remember but cannot think of anything else. I sigh and push it from my mind for now.
I walk towards the tree. I touch the bark. It feels, warm. And kind and alive. I touch my forehead against the tree and close my eyes, taking in the warmth and life coming from it. I slowly sink down until I am sitting and leaning against it. I kind of curl up against it and sigh in peace.
There is someone??? someone is petting- no??? running their fingers through my hair. I can feel the calm radiating from her. She is so kind??? and gentle and??? and loving. I wish never to leave her. I hear a whispering and I know it is her.
"What?" I call out but I can't hear her. She is too quiet. And then she is gone.
Her light and love. I can't feel it anymore. It's now cold and lonely. No??? I don't want this.
I wake up in the bed again. The room is dark and I am shivering. I look around and realize after a moment that the tree is giving off a slight glow. I feel myself smile slightly and I get out of bed and walk towards the tree.
"Hello." I whisper and sit next to the tree. "Thank you for holding me in my dream. I know this is crazy because you are a tree but thank you and I have a question.
"I heard you saying something but I don't know what it was. I asked but I still couldn't hear you. I don't know if all of the trees are like you, or even what kind of tree you are. Actually, trees aren't supposed to glow or feel alive and warm??? are they? I can't remember and I am too tired. I just wanted to say," I yawned and leaned on the tree. "Thanks." I smiled as I felt the warmth and affection. I closed my eyes and???
"I??? name??? welcome??? you??? tokek??? Wake." I woke up.
I was looking into the face of a girl. She gasped and backed up. I yawned and rubbed my eyes, then stretched and yawned again. I looked at the girl. She was about my height I think. And thin with??? pale-ish skin. She was wearing a dress that looked baggy and comfy. Her hair was??? purple?
'Purple hair?'
It looked like??? yarn??? with??? scales on it? I shook my head and stood up.
"Why aren't you in the bed?" The girl asks. Her voice is even, but questioning. Same with her stare.
'Wait, her eyes.' Her eyes were blue-ish but not like anything I have ever seen. They were magnificent. But they held a hint of something else in them but I couldn't see it unless I looked closer and that would be rude.
"Well?" She asks.
"Oh, umm because it was cold last night and the tree- err, tokek, was glowing and warm and," the girl looked at me funny.
"Who is tokek?" She asked confused.
"Oh, the tree."
"Why did you name the tree?"
"I didn't, she told me her name."
"That's crazy. Trees don't have names," she said.
I crossed my arms. "This one does."
"Your crazy,"
"I am not."
"Are too."
"Am not."
"Are too," she smirked.
"I am not crazy!" I said, thrusting my arms to my sides.
She crosses her arms and leans towards me a bit, "You. Are. Cr-"
"Remarkable," a voice interrupts her.
We both turn our heads to see who it is. An older man looking in his early 50's is in the door way. He has a beard of grey and brown and has bushy eye brows over big eyes. He's also wearing gloves and a cloak that look almost as old as him. He is holding a stick and is wearing a slightly pointed hat.
'Oh gee," I think to myself. 'Now in what movie have I seen this picture before? Hmm, oh right. All of them. If this is a dream, I'm not very original.'
